Back in the Day
(AKA late 2005)

pleasantly surprised to find the brick walls were in decent shape after we took off the paint

some lovely mystery wires

it finally starts coming together

Just came across these shots of the store from before we opened. Cannot believe what a mess it was inside. I believe it was vacant for about 2 years before we signed the lease. We originally rented 2 stores and broke the wall down in the middle to give us more needed space. The left side was a Kodak processing center and the right some sort of mobile phone store from the look of the items left behind. We essentially ended up gutting the entire space. While renovating we also got some lessons in the bizarre rules of the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission. Thankfully it all turned out well in the end!
